Something about this Michael on the freighter situation is just really unsettling. I think that Ben is very intelligent and I have a hard time believing that he would underestimate Widmore and the freighter folk so much as to think they wouldn't figure out Michael was a spy. We know the freighter people were carefully selected and handpicked. Granted Michael is only a deckhand, but given the sensitivity of the info that any crew member would learn aboard the ship, I just think Widmore would have been too smart to not handpick even the lowest on the totem pole.

So, the question then becomes is there any reason that Widmore would handpick Michael, knowing that he is in cahoots with Ben? Obviously he has knowledge about the island (but so do the freighter people supposedly with their maps and all). Do they want Walt and see this as a way to get to him? Do they want him as a pawn (though none of the 815 crew really care for him too much, nor does Ben really)?

Or...does someone need him as a constant? Is there someone on that freighter that Michael knew back home? Captain Gault maybe?

I am going out on a ledge here, but I just think there has to be more to this...it just shouldn't be that easy to infiltrate a ship on such a secretive mission.

Wow that is a really good point.. We know that the science team (Miles, Charlotte, Daniel) were chosen for some reason, most likely by Whitmore or one of his main men or ladies.. They would have had to do some checking on Kevin Johnson before they would let him on the freighter.. Could Ben have created fake "history" for this Kevin Johnson as well and if he did/ could would it have been detailed enough for Michael/ Kevin not to get caught up.. Good Points!

I think we also need to keep in mind that we dont know if Widmore is good or evil YET.

What are Widmore's real intentions for the island?

So far we only have Ben's perspective on this and we know when Ben is lieing, his lips move!!!!!

and how exactly do we know that Ben lies chronically? For a fact he doesn't speak the whole truth and is most manipulative majority of the time, but lieing always?-

Um m lets see for starters , first time we meet him he lies.
1. Is he Ben or Henry?

Then when caught out it
2. Did he find Henry dead or did he kill him?

This continues in all his dealings with everyone we know. He is a continual liar, not just a hider of the truth.

I am sure others will remember even more of his lies.

I'm not sure this continues with "all of Ben's dealings" but he is very manipulative, definitely.

but it's a flaw of logic to claim on one hand that we don't know if Witmore's good or bad and say on the other that Ben is evil. Sayid, Kate, Sawyer, even Hurley- all have lied for their own interests.. FFs show they will so in the future. They even killed or lead to the death of a bunch of people (though unintentionally, in the case of Hurley) ...so? The whole show's about twists showing how such judgments prove to be rather limited every time the viewer takes comfort in them.

My point exactly. We wont know who the "good guys" are till the last episode of last season.

Except our lvoely Ben of course who is "good"

Nobody says Ben is good or bad- I find such judgments partial and the urge to take resort in them simply juvenile for the limited logic behind.

There's one ultimate good in the show though- and that is Vincent. Yeah, the true hero of LOST
