I don't think Sayid acted upon some moral judgment of Michael's killings or of his spying for Ben. Possible that he was trying to get a better view of the bigger picture by seeing what happens if he forces Michael face the Freighter people. He might have a plan we're not aware of yet- mind you, he was a torturer so power games based on psychological manipulation is one of his tricks that might come handy in times like this.

In any case, I wasn't too happy to see him go tell on Michael though.

I kind of get the feeling that all of the freighter people are in cahoots to test Desmond and Sayid. I think they knew all along that Michael was the spy and they were just letting him think they didn't know until they could figure out how to use him to their advantage. I don't think the Captain seemed at all surprised by what Sayid told him about Michael. He actually looked a little pleased...like he was hoping all along that Sayid and Desmond would prove themselves to hate Ben as much as they do. It was more important for them to find out where Sayid and Desmonds loyalties were than it was to find out that Michael was Ben's spy.

Possibly Sayid is already in cahoots with Ben. and Michael's purpose all along was to get exposed by Sayid so that Sayid's trust would be established.

Good point. I get the feeling that not all the people on the boat are working for Widmore. I think Frank is down with the island, obviously Michael, Miles might have been one of the good guys but he is greedy. The captain seems like he is concerned with the well-being of everyone on the boat, not just killing Ben. Faraday and Charlotte are up in the air. It think they are good people, that know the plan, but maybe will decided they are good guys and not Widmore's henchman. Minkowski certainly acted like he was a good guy.

Given Tom's actions in the "real" world and the suspected loyalties of the above mentioned I am pretty convinced that Ben has exercised some of his influence to get his people on the boat too.

Fantastic thought! Nothing gains trust like pointing out a rat. Certainly gives a stronger leg for Sayid and Desmond to stand on in "foreign" water with these people if they can throw Michael to the lions.

Michael was sent to kill everyone on board the freighter? Well, he's doing a pretty crappy job. So far the only freighter people that have been killed (Naomi, Minkowski, and other dude in the raft) have all been killed NOT by Michael.
