Desmond never met Michael? Or did he? - Page 2

I'm sure that Michael knows who Desmond is. Arriving on the beach off of a ship was big news. Neither Michael nor Desmond were really in a state to make new acquaintances at that particular moment though. I would doubt that they ever conversed but some knowledge of the other is probably true. I wonder if they'll get any private talking time on the freighter and also how the rest of the ship hasn't become suspicious of "Kevin" yet.

Should be intresting to see if Desmond finds out that Michael killed Libby the chick who gave him the boat..

Oooohh, that would be such a cool moment. Michael would be apologizing to Sayid or something about the murders, then Desmonds ears would perk up "Libby?" Man I hope that happens.

I think if any of the characters start putting together these random meetings in the real world, it'll blow their minds.

Okay, I'm confused here. I thought that once Michael left, everyone knew he did the shootings. Assuming this was pretty big news, it would have been talked about between all the survivors. Desmond might have been drunk a lot when Michael was still around, but he would at least have seen him, and he must have heard the story about him later. People would have been talking about it for a while, and if Michael was ever brought up, someone would have to fill Desmond in on what happened, if he didn't already know.

I don't think Michael and Desmond ever met - the raft was launched on day 44 (November 4th, 2004). Locke didn't enter the hatch and subsequently have Desmond order him to punch in the numbers on the computer until the next day -day 45 (November 5,2004)

[We see Libby and Desmond sitting with each other. Libby is looking at a brochure for a sailing race. There's a picture of Widmore on the brochure.]

LIBBY: So, a sailing race around the world?

DESMOND: I have 8 months to get into the best shape of my life. I'll tell you what, miss, I'm going to win.

LIBBY: And what do you get if you do?

DESMOND: What really matters is who I win it for. [he pushes the brochure toward her]

LIBBY [looking at the brochure]: Charles Widmore.

DESMOND: He tried to buy me off. And when I didn't take his money, he took away the only thing in the world that I ever truly cared about.

LIBBY: Who is she?

DESMOND: His daughter. I was unsuitable on several levels.

LIBBY: And what' the 42 grand for?

DESMOND: It's a wee bit complicated. As of yet, I don't actually have a boat. [Libby looks sad] Sorry, did I say something wrong?

LIBBY: I have a boat. It was my husband's but he got sick. He wanted to sail the Mediterranean—he never—he passed away about a month ago.

DESMOND: I'm sorry.

LIBBY: I want you to have it.

DESMOND: I can't take your boat, miss.

LIBBY: But you have to. He'd want you to.

DESMOND: What was your husband's name?

LIBBY: David.

DESMOND: And what did he name his boat?

LIBBY: Elizabeth. He named it after me.

DESMOND: Then I thank you, Elizabeth. And I shall win this race for love.

I think I have said it before, I don't think that Desmond and Michael ever met face to face.. So even if he would know Michael's name at this point he would not reconize him on the freighter.. I also don't think that he would know who Libby was when and if he did hear about Michael killing Ana Lucia and Libby since I believe he only knew Libby by the name Elizabeth..

Excellent point on the Libby/Elizabeth thing, Wednighter. The only thing I would speculate about is if they continued talking (long after we were privvy to the conversation) and she then told him her name was Libby. Hey! Is there a mobisode for this?
