Boone Carlyle

Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

Default Jules Verne

A book Regina was reading upside-down in "Ji Yeon". Synopsis: At the beginning of its voyage, the Chancellor carried eight passengers and twenty crew members. By the end, only eleven people (five passengers and six crew) remained alive.

Quote:
The Survivors of the Chancellor: Diary of J. R. Kazallon, Passenger (French: Le Chancellor: Journal du passager J.-R. Kazallon) is an 1875 novel written by Jules Verne about the final voyage of a British sailing vessel, the Chancellor, told from the perspective of one of its passengers (in the form of a diary).

On a side note: Joop is the world's oldest orangutan in the storyline of the alternate reality game The Lost Experience, according to thehansofoundation.org. This is a major breakthrough that is the result of The Hanso Foundation's Life Extension Project. As mentioned in the Official Lost Podcast/May 4, 2007, the name Joop is a reference to Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island, where a group of castaways eventually find and educate a highly intelligent orangutan:

I came across this, reading about the book:

Quote:
Jan. 05: At six o'clock in the morning, a struggle takes place between six drunken crewmen led by Owen and Curtis, the boatswain, Dowlas, and some of the passengers. One of the mutineering sailors, Wilson, dies after being struck in the chest by a hatchet wielded by Curties, and the mutiny is suppressed.
someone said in another thread that they saw a hatchet or axe buried into a wall or something on the freighter as people were walking past it? possibly a reference to the book?

Didn't Jules Verne write "The Time Machine"?

H.G. Wells wrote the Time Machine. Verne wrote 20,000 leagues under the sea.

20,000 leagues under the sea, I'd say that's about where Regina is right now.

This bit is also on the Wikipaedia article about the book - Jan. 22: In a fit of madness, Jynxstrop jumps off the raft. Sounds just like Regina to me.

ps - joop is also a very nice aftershave lol
