Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

So the Year of the Dragon occured in 2000 and will occur again in 2012.

So either Jin's panda buying spree was in 2001 (to January of 2001) or in 2012 and the "married for two months" is his cover story for still being alive.

He had a pretty old cell phone for a guy living in 2012. And don't you think if he was trying to pretend to be someone else he wouldn't go work for the same company?

ahh queenbee, you are so fast, grasshopper!!!

i just remembered that...hit me like a ton of bricks at 4 in the morning...the shopkeeper said it was the year of the dragon! I personally believe it was a flashback for jin to the year 2000. also the fact that he was working for paik and married for only 2 months is also a clue.

ok bee, i got one for you...( or anyone else who might be able to answer )

are there any clues given as to the identity of the other woman who had the baby boy? i thought i read in the subtitles something about "ambassador"? if it was the chinese ambassador (who just had a grandson), it could be another clue as to the timeline. just wondering if anyone caught a name or title or something of the "friend" of Paik Industries?

It was definately the ambassodor of Chinas' daughter who gave birth, and no doubt Paik was currying favor with the ambass. and China as well.

The bigger question is--> why is Mr. Paik buttering up the Ambassador? Surely for some nefarious purpose.

Can we say bodies for a fake plane crash? I'm pretty sure there can be lots of bodies gotten in China to pull off something like this.

well his hair is the same length and style as in the flashbacks, particularly the ones with jae
