I like this theory.. Ben betrays the betrayer.. Remember what Ben said to Locke in The Man from Tallahasee..

The sub keeps the ILLUSION of his people being able to leave..

Also that Locke did him a big favor by blowing up the sub since he didn't want to let Jack and Juliette leave... He could not go back on his word, and letting them leave showed weakness.. I think he said..

So I doubt Ben just let Walt and Michael Leave.. Good Point

Here's what I think: Ben kept his word. He let Mike and Walt leave. And he didn't worry about Michael talking when he got off the island because then he would admit to killing two people. Besides, Michael got back and found out that he was really dead, along with all the other Losties, and his body was at the bottom of an ocean trench. So....Ben's people contacted Mike and said:

"Your son's safe, but don't you feel really bad about what you did? Wouldn't you like to try and make it up to your friends? Leave Walt here at spooky kid day-care and go help the people you betrayed because if you don't, Charles Widmore is going to kill them and open up his version of Fantasy Island where everyday a midget yells 'Da Plane, Da Plane' and Oceanic flight 816 breaks in half directly over the log ride. Oh, by the way, your new name is Kevin Johnson."

Let's face it, if Ben can get Sayid to be an assassin, he can get Michael to be a janitor.

I know what Michael did was horrible... But i can not honestly say I would not do something similar to what Michael did to get my son back. ESPECIALLY under those circumstances. If your standing in between me and my Son you better hope I dont have a loaded gun or walk in to get blankets at the wrong time. Some people (like myself) would gladly give their own lives and take other lives with them to ensure the survival/wellbeing of their own child. There was NO WAY Anna-Lucia was going to let Ben go after what she went though, and letting ben go was the only way to get his son released.

So before you write-off Michael as the Devil, look inside yourself and wonder... "Would I kill someone to ensure the safety of my own child"

I am sure that you could give me a "What If" situation where I would agree with what your saying here about protecting my child.

But the thing is this:
Michael wasn't in a do or die situation.
He had a lot of options available to him that he could have at least tried before just killing Ana Lucia. For one he could have just told Jack and the gang what was going on. Maybe they could have come up with a plan that lets Ben escape without killing anyone.
OR
If he still wanted to keep secrets and do it all on his own. He could have just made up some story to get Ana Lucia out of the Swan station then let Ben go.
There were a lot of things Michael could have done, but he just jumped right to murder.

a great question and the writers are tapping into a vast emotional reserve.

I wonder how many prisons are filled with guys who make impulsive wrong decisions?
decisions based on circumstances??extroardinary events???

I said before Mike did not act premediated but I am thinking now he did..
and he killed Libby to shut her mouth

Benje kills to protect the Island and in a circumstantial way is responsible for many deaths on his mission..MAYBE even Ana L. and Libby

But Mike had choices especially to tell the other LOSTies

BUT Mike is as sick as his secrets and killed rather than share the secret

Mike has proven to be a TRAITOR..he delivered the LOSTies to the evil Ben

Will he do it again???

In the light of the last episode "Meet Kevin Johnson" we learn that Michael is unable to kill himself because the island is preventing him from doing so. The island still has things for him to do. Without free will, how can Michael be responsible for anything he does? If the Island chooses what Michael will do, then who is responsible for the things Michael has done?

in real life ...
I am responsible for my actions ....every action.

I dislike the concept that the Islands is responsible for this killing or any others

then nobody is responsible.

good or bad the Island is part of each character but not responsible for their behaviors like some Matrix without choice

actually i have thought this through, if i was mike, i would have got the gun and forced anna lucia to release ben without shooting her. tie her up whatever, if she resists then perhaps need to escalate to shhoting her, but i woudnt shoot someone immediately.

I got to thinking about the original question asked by this thread:

Will Mike re-betray the LOSTIES?

And its kinda funny because Sayid seemed to answer this question by turning Michael over to the frieghter captain. Except I don't think Sayid thinks Michael will rebetray them but more like he is still betraying them.

And its even funnier because we know that Sayid ends up working for Ben himself.
