Jin-Soo Kwon

Jin-Soo Kwon (Revised Romanization of Korean (RR): Gwon Jin-su, McCune-Reischauer (MR): Kwo(n Chin-su) is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jin was born into a poor upbringing with his fisherman father which he has always been ashamed of. After meeting and in order to marry Sun, the love of his life, he was forced into working into his father-in-law's mafia-type business in which he takes part in horrid tasks. This has made him almost scared of what he is capable of. Due to this, he was over-controlling of Sun in their late-marriage stage. Jin is the only survivor to not speak the native language within the group - English. This has caused a constant language barrier but after Sun revealed she spoke English to the group, this helped him overcome this struggle and has managed to pick up disconnected words and phrases.

This is the thing that has been driving me nuts thinking about. Who serves Jacob's will Ben or Richard? Ben want to stop the woman dying and baby being born again(?) on the island and Richard doesn't seem to think this important at all. It seems to me he thinks he can just hire more people and this issue of pregnancy is not important when it is measured up. Thoughts?

Ben is definitely an odd one to figure out, for everything we have found out about him, he is still a mystery. And as for Richard, well we know that he is a prolific traveler and apparently a lot older than he looks, but thats about it.

And then there is Jacob, and he is what? A ghostlike being in a cabin that moves around the jungle?

I think this one is going to continue to drive us all nuts for a while. I am not sure how we can begin to figure out who is "serving Jabob's will" best. Because we don't know what or who Jacob is, much less what Jacob's goals or objectives are.

Good question..I don't see the differences between Ben and Richard hinting towards the extent of their commitment to Jacob. I think it was rather Ben's devotion to fertility studies, and what seems to be his personal obsession with it, that frustrated Richard. Not because babies are not part of Jacob's plan and Ben isn't getting it- although... Strong association between the island and Jacob is obvious, and the island being not-so-kind to pregnant women might as well mean Jacob's discontent with Ben's stubborn interest.. Again, good question

About Richard- even if the half of all the speculations around this character were to turn out right, he's gotta be someone who has an exceptional take on big questions like time, destiny, change, death. He's one character who seems to hold very unique experiences around all those issues.. So I wouldn't be surprised if he were to be less interested in specific altruistic missions and more into 'larger issues' with deep personal meaning to everyone.

Jacob could be speaking to Ben only, but I think Richard would definitely be higher than Ben if the Island were to have any rank (of power/ knowledge/ initiative etc..)
