This might be neither here nor there, but the first thing I thought of when I saw that )apart from Hurley saying he was "lucky" - change of position from being cursed by the numbers) was the saying "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades." We had see the hand grenade - in Miles' mouth, and now we have the horseshoes.... hmmm.... I'm not sure it goes anywhere - that was just my visceral reaction to that scene.

Horseshoes (With Sawyer)

That was the big thing I took from that little scene - Hurley had spent the past three seasons telling us that he is cursed all that - then suddenly in the little horseshoes scene Hurley says, "I'm lucky." That is a huge shift in Hurley's beliefs about himself.
