Sun-Hwa Kwon

Sun-Hwa Kwon (née Paik ?) (Revised Romanization of Korean (RR): Baek Seon-hwa, McCune-Reischauer (MR): Paek So(n'hwa) is one of the middle section survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. She was traveling on the plane with her husband, Jin-Soo Kwon. Their marriage has been very unstable, on and off the island, mainly due to Jin's controlling and violent nature and also because of Sun's many secrets that she will go to great lengths to protect even if it involves hurting others e.g. the maid in "The Glass Ballerina". She is currently pregnant with Jin's child, and according to Juliet the pregnancy will kill her in two months like every other pregnant woman who conceived on the island.

Yea the whole dinner thing was to manipulate Juliette but I think his intentions were nothing more than to show her how much he liked her in his own Creepy Ben way

Then he took the creepyiness to a whole new level.. With the taking her out to Goodman and the whole your mine comment..

i can't feel sorry for Ben because he never quite seems powerless to me. even when he's tied up and being pulled around like a slave or he's locked up in a dungeon somewhere...he somehow always seems in control of the situation...

I feel sorry for him a little because I feel that his manipulative ways and power struggles come from a deep insecurity. I had flashbacks to my high school "stalker" during the dinner scene with him and Juliet. LOL.

I agree with you completely.

Ben attempts to start some quite juvenile flirting game..and fails. So what? Everyone has at least one or two similar failed attempts in his/her lifetime. That's called being human.

Ben pushes his rival into a life-risking mission to keep their shared love interest only to himself..So what? Ben doesn't just live on the island. He lives the island. It's not like he's some social butterfly cruising the dating scene in Manhattan with a list of potential lovers in his pocket. Nobody seems to notice the great solitude Ben lives in. Good company is one of the few things in life that's worth the fight. Especially under Ben's conditions.

He shows Goodwin's dead body to Juliette..So what? If he was to tell Juliette that Goodwin's dead, she probably wouldn't believe or try to go after him, thus she'd ruin Ben's plans on the long run. It's not like he said "Goodwin's dead. Now give me a hug". I think letting a man he makes responsible for that chemicals station die is quite a sacrifice for Ben. Bigger than Juliette's loss of Goodwin.

So no, I'm not sorry for Ben. He's been consistent and quite logical with everything I've seen him done so far. His deeds might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they express strength, sacrifice and intellect.

Ben was given a mission long ago

to protect the Island at any and all costs

Now who gave him the mission?????

he was at one time a maintenace man like his father

so he climbed the ladder fast after gassing Dharama

and IF Jacob gave him the mission .i.e. to protect the Island

I feel sorry that his mom died at birth and he was left with a drunken, unloving father. I feel sorry for him about what happened to Annie as well.

I know, we don't know what the heck happened, but I'm betting it's not good.

I felt sorry for him, he got lots of power, but everything he loves he loses, his childhood sweet heart, his dad, juliet, the people in the temple.

I can't really see how Ben will turn out the hero. He reveals himself to be a sociopath at every turn. Shooting Locke and leaving him to die in a ditch full of dead bodies? Showing Juliet the corpse of her lover? Planning out the extermination of an entire community? So when I see him acting sort of "normal" like in the little dinner party scene, it just creeps me out more . . . because he is able to act out normal human emotion when it suits him.

Ben will be given a chance for redemption ..everyone else gets one
and then Hero

Its a possiblity..Charlie is the best example whom went from doper to concerned pal kicked the habit is reborn and then becomes a Hero sacrificing himself for his pals

I am saying Ben MAYBE afforded similiar opportunities

Julia at first seemd likea creepo now look and she her acting herocially

not sure of her redemption yet but it could come

Each character has a past that they MUST face to move on and grow...
