Default Damon and Lindelof, how will you make it up to me?

What a major major disappointment "The Other Woman" was. Ugh! This episode was the worst one ever! Ever, folks, EV-ER! For one thing, I thought it was going to be revealed that Ben & Juliet had had an actual relationship that was more than some ridiculous jealous high crush Ben had for Juliet. Instead the "history" that Tom Friendly alluded to during Ben's surgery was an overblown crush? Did I accidentally have my TV on Degrassi Jr. High?

The episode was nothing more than a soap opera set in the jungle, down to the title "The Other Woman." It even had a SURGEON tied into the romantic drama!--How's that for a daytime TV standard??!! A surgeon, people: Can you say 'General Hospital'? I kept waiting for Susan Lucci and her helmet hair to walk out of the jungle and say "Sorry for the whispering, I have a bit of a cold. But anyway, Juliet--you b*&@#!--you'll never take my man from me!!!"

Of course, maybe I would have liked it more if I gave a darn about Juliet or believed it was possible that anyone could find her attractive. Jack is completely icky to me now. Jack, you are dead to me. Dead, you hear?

That's an hour of my life I will never get back.

I loved it! It didn't have the craziness of Constant, but there was a lot of good stuff to be learned in it. (and I don't mean the Jack and Juliet relationship stuff) It's one you have to look beyond just the surface of to get some good information. And thank you Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof for not giving me any more of the whole Kate/Sawyer/Jack stuff. Please put that to rest for us.

first of all, LOVE the post. funny stuff. susan lucci! classic!

i agree with you on a couple of points. juliette (or the actress that portrays her) to me is not believeable as an attractive woman. something about her smirk. i STILL don't trust her, and she's...i don't know...like a prune. i HATE that jack and her are getting romantically involved. HATE IT!!!

A couple of points were boring, i'll give you that. but maybe tom was alluding to the fact that ben orchestrated the death of juliette's lover, more than the fact that he is obsessed with her.

maybe we can't help but be disappointed because the last few eps have been so good. there was bound to be a bit of a let down eventually.

Gee Potpies, I don't think you liked this episode. I was a bit disapointed as well. But it was kinda funny to see Ben acting like that . I noticed Ben and Jewells were pretty Botoxed up there.

I thought the best part, that made me laugh, was when Juliette shows up at Ben's house for dinner and he is acting like a giddy teenager on his first date. He was so happy to see her and really unlike the Ben we know. But he really is like a teenager emotionally, happy one minute and angry and jealous the next.

ben had a lot of good lines in this ep:

"this rabbit didn't have a number on it, did it?"

"i taped over the game."

and a crisp, flippant "take all the time you need." leaving a distraught juliette with moldy dead goodwin

Yes, I know! Just like a teenager! Only someone very inexperienced at love would think that showing Juliet the green and bloated dead body her lover rotting on a hillside and then admitting his ultimate responsibility for the brutal and violent death would make Juliet turn around and love him instead. He's like the most unpopular kid in school who vows: "Someday they'll all be sorry!" Bad craziness.

It's incredibly screwed up that a guy with so much power, so much ability to inflict harm and decide who lives and who dies is really a very childish, petty person. (Look at his jealousy of Locke--not exactly a great leadership trait.) Pretty scary stuff. And ironic that Ben talks about the famous LIST that includes all of the "good" people on the island. How can Ben's name be on it if he pulls crap like this? (Of course, maybe his name is NOT on the list, but who would know other than himself and Jacob?) Really makes you wonder what criteria is being used to determine "goodness" and "corruption," and who is doing the judging.

Ben can only be extremely inexperienced at love. It's not like he would have had all that many options on the island. He was very very shy for a long time and a bit of a crybaby. Also, as the scrawny son of a janitor he might have been passed over for the more charismatic sons of people of more influential people on the island. Also, his dad was a scary drunk. What girl wants to be around that???
