Bernard Nadler
Bernard Nadler is a tail section survivor of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and the husband of Rose. He is the only tail section survivor that has not been killed, captured, or assimilated in to the Others. He wasn't seated in the tail section, and was only there when the plane crashed because he was using the bathroom then. Bernard cares very much for Rose and feels a need to fix things, like her cancer, not dissimilar to Jack.

TREEBEARD SAID:
Rofl. Jack will end up being nailed to a cross if Ben wants it to happen. Ben is exactly were he wants to be.
Wow; that's an interesting choice of words and VERY VERY surprising coming from a poster who has been claiming all along that Ben is the only real "good guy" in the show. If that scene does happen would we need any further evidence that the total reverse of your claim is true??? I mean, unless you want to argue that Pontius Pilate was really the good guy and Jesus was really the bad guy... But, uh...I wouldn't want to be on that side of the argument, that's for sure...
TREEBEARD SAID:
Juliet betrayed him. I doubt he still carries any feelings for her.
I've got to disagree with you here too, for 2 big reasons. (1.) It's a little hard to believe that after all the effort he went to to get Juliet on the island and all the effort to keep here there and the effort to impress here and all of the childish antics surrounding his crush on her, and the fact that he had Goodwin killed so he would have no rivals for her heart...well, I don't think those feelings will go away so quickly. However, say you're right and he doesn't love her anymore ("The Other Woman" is chock full of evidence to the contrary, but whatever...), (2.) Ben still DEFINITELY wouldn't want Jack to get her! Jack is the Dreamy Quarterback/Homecoming King to Ben's Asthmatic Dungeons & Dragons-playing Dweeb. We've already seen how competitive Ben is with rivals. Look at any of his interactions with Locke. If he didn't feel threatened by Locke he wouldn't play all those petty games with him.
Intellectually Ben is a big deal and advanced beyond his peers. Emotionally he is no further along than when he was crying into his OshKosh B'Gosh's on the swingset with Annie. Pathetic. "It's this weakest aspect of his personality that I think will ultimately lead to the loss of his leadership of the Others. Just like Oedipus, baby!

Remember I have done thee worthy service,
Told thee no lies, made no mistakes, served
Without or grudge or grumblings. Thou did promise

.."depends on what your defintion of the word is is.."
"The relationship doesn't have to be reciprocal at all. Just look at Desmond and Daniel. They don't have a strong bond. Certainly nothing like Desmond has with Penny. "
I agree the relationship does NOT have to be reciprocal and does not necessarily need a strong bond
BUT rethinking this word
I think Ben /Julia is reciprocal
reciprocal - Definitions from Dictionary.com
"re·cip·ro·cal –adjective 1. given or felt by each toward the other; mutual: reciprocal respect.
2. given, performed, felt, etc., in return: reciprocal aid.
3. corresponding; matching; complementary; equivalent: reciprocal privileges at other health clubs.
4. Grammar. (of a pronoun or verb) expressing mutual relationship or action: “Each other” and “one another” are reciprocal pronouns. "
There is also some symbiosis in many of the relationships on the Island and off
"The term symbiosis (from the Greek: συμ, sym, "with"; and βίοσίς, biosis, "living") commonly describes close and often long-term interactions between different biological species. The term was first used in 1879 by the German mycologist, Heinrich Anton de Bary, who defined it as: "the living together of unlike organisms"."
Ben is the master manipulator and finds the weak pts of the personality
and yes he is advanced in intellect but not emotions ..
victim of child abuse .....traumatized by loss of mother during his birth
and MOST see him as the enemy
I say there is a strong chance he will emerge as a Hero..
and the whole constant thing is a great debate as to what exactly it means to the LOSTies and the viewers..
Bens constant is the Island
"Reciprocal determinism is the theory set forth by psychologist Albert Bandura that a person's behavior both influences and is influenced by personal factors and the social environment. Bandura accepts the possibility of an individual's behavior being conditioned through the use of consequences. At the same time he asserts that a person's behavior (and personal factors, such as cognitive skills or attitudes) can impact the environment."
