juliette all dolled up

just noticed that juliette, when she first gets to the island, she wears a lot of make up and fixes her hair nice. she also wears high heels in the lab!!!

I think after Goodwin is killed and she realizes Ben is obsessed with her, she starts downplaying the looks. no more makeup, etc.

what do you guys think? she was wearing a LOT of makeup in the first scene. i guess it threw me off, because i'm used to seeing her with no makeup.

My first thought was that she was crying because her sister had cancer.
That tells you how far back I thought the flashback had gone.
I didn't associate "island Juliet" with any effort at decoration.

I think it was an effort to wave Juliet's sexuality like a red flag in front of a bull.

yes I noticed her being all dolled up also! It was at a time when she considered herself "like a Celeb." But the therapist quickly put her in her place on that! I thought that was sorta a strange scene.

Her makeup was bothering me. She had lots of blue eye shadow on one eye and barely any on the other. It was distracting! She may have stopped getting dolled up once she learned Ben had a thing for her or maybe there was no point after Goodwin left/died. Or it could just be that old habits die hard, she'd worn makeup in the real world so it took a little while to feel comfortable on the island without it.

I completely agree.

Has anyone else noticed the personallity change? Look at Jules now and compare her to the flashbacks.

Yes before the island she was "fragile" for lack of a better word.. On the Island she seems very sure of herself and determinded... Nice..

I think that Juliet looked nice with her make up. I also think she stopped wearing because she no longer felt the need to keep up appearances. She didn't have to pretend to want to be there, b/c she felt trapped like a prisoner.

On a side note, I did notice that Kate's hair color has changed slightly. She is now sporting some lovely red highlights in her chesnut hair, which i never noticed before lol.

She was crying because she lost her first pregnate patient

Good thinking about 'downplaying the looks'. Who'd like to upset Ben any further? I think it also had to do with Juliette losing hopes of departing and coming to terms with the island reality of her life. All that make-up and dressing was part of the routine of her pre-island life, and she was taking her stay on island mainly on professional grounds. As she realized she wasn't leaving any soon and the more 'personally involved' she became with island, her looks changed as well I guess.

Plus why bother with make up under tropic sun and showers, really
