So this is my very first post on this, but I feel like I have to add this point that I think the writers meant for this episode to be our "constant." Like us as in the Lost fanatics! On the episode, they say the constant has to be something/someone that a person TRUELY cares about, and I think the writers knew we'd see this episode as monumental in the Lost series thus far. Also if my (actually my brother's) theory proves true, then this episode will be what we go back to in the future. So yeah, I think that the episode itself is our "Constant" on the Lost journey!

I like this theory! I for one am getting confused.

I disagree. I don't think we will look to this episode alot. Its very straight foward and there is not a huge reason to go back to it after watching it once our twice.

Right but it introduces/verifies the idea that "Time" is a big theme for the show. I think it opened many new doors for the Lost storyline.

No Flashes Before Your Eyes did that. This just followed from the main idea and gave us more info about it. Although it was quite a bit Flashes Before Your Eyes was the main introduction.

Desmond has a Constant. Daniel has a Constant.

Game over.

Honestly guys...This Constant thing is going to your heads. I remember after Confirmed Dead people went ghost busting savvy. Now "Constants" are the next cool thing.

4th season of LOST, being about the 4th dimension time obviously- so I'm assuming anything related is only to get bigger and more captivating as the season unfolds. It's such a pandora's box that it would be hard to close it in one episode or two. 2 freighter people 'die' because of temporal disorientation, Des' consciousness does serious time traveling and almost loses it before contacting his constant..and that would be it? I think not.

I disagree! You'll see... The constant thing plays a BIG part! I have faith in my Lost creators and the constants!

I'm with you, chrism122. I think the constants will play a more important role in the next episodes. They could even explain some of the mysteries of the island that still haven't been explained, for example the black horse being Kate's constant, Christian shephard being Jack's constant and so on.

And Treebeard, even if you're right and the constants won't be a part of the show, it was worth speculating about it. We don't have a life and are lost-obsessed, so let us come up with those theories, even if they turn out to be wrong^^

Yeah it will play a nice medium sized part. Only for Daniel and Desmond though. The black horse being Kate's constant. This is good thinking but makes this show called "Constantly LOST". They didn't think of this whole "Constant" Deal prolly until season 3. Because the whole Time Travel game was for Desmond. So at least it took them too Season 2.

So you think that when they started Season 1 they were thinking "This is Jacks Constant." Srsly. Oh and by the way The Cerberus isn't gonna turn into Christian Shepard for Jack.

This show would become extremely LAME if Constants were a huge deal. Yes it was fun for a episode maybe even a couple episodes. But then LOST is just a ridiculous time traveling mess that would be really annoying, repetitive, and of course, Lame.

When you say you have "Faith" in them you mean you have faith they will make sure that Season 6 has under 100 viewers.

The critics will murder this show. Honestly.

Although i like this sort of thinking. I repeat. I still disagree with this. Also I'm not trying to be mean to you btw.
