 Benjamin "Ben" Linus
Benjamin "Ben" Linus is the leader of the Others on the Island. Ben arrived on the Island as a child, brought by his father Roger to work for the DHARMA Initiative. Ben takes orders from Jacob, and is the only person who visits and speaks with him. Ben's apparent goal is to keep the Island and its special properties secret from the outside world, and he goes to great lengths to achieve this.

Is Ben the Captain?
I read that
Using the Casimir effect. That's why Ben was so afraid people would go and figure it out.
But also Inman might have survived.

The name of the freighter appears to be Kahana. We know the captain of the Christiane I is Ockham. Since both Faraday and Lapidus recognise the name "Widmore" when it's spoken, my bet are both ships are part of the Maxwell Group (a subsidiary of The Widmore Corporation) fleet.

I looked up the word Kahana, in addition to it being the name of many jewish writers it also was a certain place in Hawaii. Since the Keamy and Omar don't really seem to want to talk about where they shipped from I'm thinking maybe the boat came from Hawaii. Very interesting that Omar cut Keamy off before he could tell Desmond where they had shipped from. just throwin' it out there.

I think one of those guys had said they last ported in Fiji - so Hawaii is possible before that!

I used to agree with you...but...now...I guess it is possible that they played the Losties to get in touch with Ben...if he is their leader or captian/vetranarian...
