Not sure about multiple time lines personally - though it seems to maybe be heading that way, I was edging towards multiple realities (as in Dark Tower). They're pretty much the same thing though I guess. There's a great article on Wiki about it at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse. It's an interesting read - especially about the "physical constants" it mentions (given the title of 4.05)

Nobody knows when Michael will appear first. Anybody who says they do is lieing.

I thought the "friend of the boat" was the pilot. He knew they were locked in the room and just opened the door.

I agree 100%. When we think we have something figured out on this show, that is exactly when another twist comes! Michael may be on the boat, but I don;t think he's the "man".

I think it's going to be Michael who is the "friend" on the freighter, but his name isn't going to be Michael Dawson. It's going to be Kevin Johnson, as in the title of episode "Meet Kevin Johnson." Kevin Johnson is either Michael or it is going to be the captain of the freighter--> if it is the captain, yikes! I think the captain will be ScArY! If it is Michael then he had to have an alias on the ship because the freighter people had the Oceanic 815 flight's manifest and knew all about the passengers (Miles with Kate), so they would recognize the name "Michael Dawson." But if he is working for Ben and is one of his men on the boat then he would need an alias (and Henry Gale was already taken!)

How would he suddenly take a place among the crew? Didn't they travel quite a long way together before reaching their current location? Did the freighter crew all suffer some sort of selective amnesia?

As for the spoiler issue above, the very fact that we're discussing Michael's reappearance at all is a spoiler unto itself!

I'm not sure I understand your questions. One of the crewmen mentioned they last ported in Fiji - maybe they needed a guy and picked him up there. (in the Find815 game, Sam joined the crew late, in fact the captian didn't want him, but Sam fixed the radio, and they let him stay) Maybe Michael has altered his appearance and, with Ben's help, has the necessary documents to be "Kevin Johnson." Also I am thinking that if the freighter is from 2007 then Michael would have had time to get on the freighter. I hope I explained that well.

I don't think the freighter is from 2007 since the calander said 2004. Also, it would make sense for Michael to be the man on the boat, which is why I don't think it's him. Here's a wild and crazy thought: What if it's not a man, but a woman? What if it's Lockes old girlfriend Helen? I know, I know. Way too far fetched. But it is LOST we're talking about.
