Maybe the colors represent attempts to reach the island, either via communication or transportation... I can't crack the code, but here are the numbers I've been looking at:
Days in a row by each color: 12 black, 7 blue, 4 clearish, 11 black, 2 red, 5 black, 1 red, 4 black, 2 blue, 2 black, 1 blue, 1 red, 2 black, 2 blue, 1 black, 1 red, , 1 black, 2 red, 5 black, 2 red, 2 black, 1 red, 3 black, 2 red, 2 black, 1 red, 1 black, 1 red, 3 black

There are 54 black days, 14 red days, 12 blue days and 4 clearish days.

There are no red days in October, and no blue days in December.

Any other thoughts or patterns?

I would love to flip this calendar back to the September page! If this calendar is monitoring things going on with finding a passage onto the island, or communication to the island then the ship has been there almost as long as the losties themselves. If this boat has been there since October then the crew didn't even mark anything special on the day the swan hatch imploded! (November 28 ) So the comings and goings of the ship Kahana is a new and exciting mystery unto itself.

i think its just a calendar. prob done in different colours to make it look less like the prop guy did it 5 mins ago, and more like it's been done over a period of time with diff pens available.

In ANY other show your point would be valid, however we are talking about LOST here. Anything that catches the eye, probably has some sort of significance to it.

Makes me wonder just how long that freighter boat has been out there, since they left the last port on Fiji. Have they just been sailing around in circles??? They may have been there almost as long as the Losties, which is quite possible because if Penny Widmore has been looking for Des for 3 years, it took her that long to find him. Mr Widmore may have used her info that she got, to get the boat out there, along with the info from the original Ship Log from the Black Pearl. Does this make sense??
