Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

i checked this calender with a real life calender of 2004. the 1st november of 2004 is a monday and on the lost calender its not crossed out.

I think you might need to check again, The first of November is a Monday on the Lost map, and it is also crossed out. I think you just didn't see the last day of October fell on a Sunday.

All the days are crossed out. November 1st 2004 was indeed a Monday.

I like the idea that this is an indication of communication to the island...or more precisely, communication to Ben...
I guess another possibility is communications from whoever sent them.

Does anybody remember when they were in the hatch and somebody (either Michael or Sawyer but thinking its Michael) using the computer to communicate with someone. Maybe the days when he was talking to someone was with someone on the freighter and those are the days marked with another color.

I always thought that the Other tricked Michael into talking with them. They could see him at the computer via the cameras and monitor him from the Peral. They gave him a location, ambushed him, took him to the fake village, blackmailed him to bringing Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley back and then let him go...

has anyone noticed that the difference between the red marked day's and the nex tset of red ones is usually 7 day's and then has 2 red days marked, then it drops to a few days with only 1 marked red day, then back again. this goes on over the period of November and December.
Now what if the the red markers indicate windows in order to be able to reach the island either by plane, boat, submarine ETC.
Remember when Jack and Juliet where waiting to leave the island, befor Locke blew it up?
Why didn't they just go straight away? why where they waiting till dark? IT'S A SUBMARINE THAT TRAVEL UNDERWATER, YOU CAN'T SEE IT?
