don't you mean he didn't know penny when he went TO the monastery? because when he left he got a ride from penny because she was picking up boxes of stuff from there. so when he left the monastery was exactly when he met her.

YES, that is what I meant...just didn't word it right, I guess. I meant he didn't know her before he left the Monastary...he met her outside when he was leaving. You and I are talking about the same thing

I forgot about the money. Widmore offered it to Desmond in exchange for Desmond's promise that he wouldn't contact Penny, right? But did Desmond take the money? I know he needed money to enter the race, but surely he didn't take Widmore's money, right? Refresh my memory, folks.

I don't think Des took the money from Mr. Widmore because when he was in the coffee shop, about to meet Libby, he didn't have enough cash to buy the cup of joe...

I agree but he did have some money just NO American Money if I remember right. Not that it matters since I still don't think he took the money.

Where in the timeline is the scene when Desmond meets up with Jack in a flashback? When Desmond talks to Jack on the bleachers? He ends his conversation with Jack by saying something like "See you in another life, Brother." Is this because Desmond now knows that he can travel back and forth in time, so he's constantly wondering if he'll see somebody again in "another life"? Or does he have particular knowledge that he'll see Jack again on the island? I feel like I need to watch this episode again. Does anyone know what season/episode this scene is in? Does Jack have this conversation just before the he goes to Australia?

That is before the boat race. Des is training for the race. And, I think "See you in another life, borther" is just something he says...a catch saying.
