Faraday found his constant in Desmond.
Which assures he won't die of a totally lame cause.
But if I am correct, the people who are experiencing the said "side effects" entered the island on boat, and most likely did not maintain the correct bearing.
I think Faraday might have performed his experiment on himself. That is why he is experiencing the side effects.

No no, its the radiation, note that he did not cover his head as Desmond said, which i think will come into play. As he said those who were exposed to radiation or strong magnetism, is affected by the island.

He is definitely concerned that the same could happen to him. I'm pretty sure that's what the card trick memorization was about last week. He's maybe not experienced the effects like Desmond but he is at least anticipating something.

hmm i starting to think that some the people who do leave the island will die of this lame cause of nothing having a constant.

I really don't think it's a lame cause just because it highly resembles 'The Butterfly Effect'.

I didn't think Dan was affected... He is just preparing himself for the worst, no?

i believe faraday was affected and we've already seen how. that's why he was crying in his flashback and didn't know why. when he gets off the island he pops back to the past and cries about the plane in the ocean because he already knows those people but doesn't realize it.

And then finding the note in his journal it almost looked like it was the first time he had seen it.... this was after desmond found him in the past(i think).
So he may be JUST realising that he has or will have to use a constant for his own loop.
