Ben emphatically tells Michale and Walt to stay exactly on a particular heading in order to leave the island. Daniel emphatically tells Lapidus to stay exactly on a particular heading in order to leave the island.

This made me wonder if the reason why Lapidus, Desmond, and Sayid never make it to the freighter is because they went off course and ended up in just slightly the wrong timeline. Maybe a time just BEFORE flight 815 takes off from Sydney? It also made me wonder Sayid gets a jump on his killing for Ben off the island before he even landed on the island. Possibly the reason the Italian guy on the golf course freaks out when he hears Sayid's name is because the Oceanic 6 aren't supposed to have happened yet, and neither of them are supposed to know about it, but both do, so obviously Sayid came to kill him.

Now tonight during "Eggtown Enhanced" the annotations point out that Daniel emphatically tells Lapidus to stay exactly on a particular heading in order to leave the island. We se that they go off course. Desmond goes back and forth in his own timeline. The plane definitely ends up in the wrong time. I'm sure of it.
