Shannon Rutherford
Shannon Rutherford was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Boone's stepsister, who she frequently argued with. She was very selfish at times, though she eventually formed a romantic relationship with Sayid. Shannon survived on the Island for 48 days before she was unintentionally shot and killed by Ana-Lucia Cortez.

Basiclly that means the other 2 died and the reason it was in his story was for realism purpose.
The way he was telling it clearly meant they died quite early in the story. AKA died soon after the crash. Because he said "She tried to save them" that was during her hero period which was immediantly after the crash.
Therefore the other 2 oceanic are worthless. But the interesting part would be who he choice as the other 2.
Of course I could be wrong. But I'm probably not.

Treebeard it might be a good idea to do a search first before you start a new thread. I think it is even rule number one in the forum guidelines. You shouldn't have started a new thread about this (redundant), you should have posted this good information about Jack's testimony in the previously started thread "Is The Oceanic 6 Really 6" ,or "Oceanic EIGHT"(but Lost in Hazzard already said the same thing there), or "8 Survivors, But Only Six Of The Island". I'm not saying not to post, just suggesting that you do a search first to see it there is already a thread started about this - or read them too to see if someone else has already mentioned it.

I agree. That seems to be a common problem lately. Everybody's naturally excited and eager to share questions or comments, but a little searching wouldn't hurt. Makes it easier for admin to manage things too.

I'm not sure we should assume that the Oceanic 6 HAD to have all been on the plane. The 'Oceanic 6' is just a cover story: a lie to the rest of the world. The rest of the world doesn't have a copy of the manifest right in front of them to check who was on it and who wasn't. They have no way of knowing. How would they ever know?
Now, I don't know if there ARE people among the 6 who weren't on the plane (Desmond, Juliet, etc.), I"m just saying I don't think we should rule it out without more information.
