Jin-Soo Kwon
Jin-Soo Kwon (Revised Romanization of Korean (RR): Gwon Jin-su, McCune-Reischauer (MR): Kwo(n Chin-su) is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jin was born into a poor upbringing with his fisherman father which he has always been ashamed of. After meeting and in order to marry Sun, the love of his life, he was forced into working into his father-in-law's mafia-type business in which he takes part in horrid tasks. This has made him almost scared of what he is capable of. Due to this, he was over-controlling of Sun in their late-marriage stage. Jin is the only survivor to not speak the native language within the group - English. This has caused a constant language barrier but after Sun revealed she spoke English to the group, this helped him overcome this struggle and has managed to pick up disconnected words and phrases.

Maybe the manifest would have been made public, maybe not. One thing I am certain of is that the any sort of p.r. statements about the crash and the survivors stories would have been controlled/manipulated by the same people forcing the Oceanic 6 to lie about the crash. If the Losties are being forced to lie, don't you think the "official" manifest released to the public would have been tampered with as well?
Who's gonna know that Juliet and Desmond weren't on the plane (for instance), and who's going to make a big stink about it? The big story is simply that people survived at all. (Especially after video released of all the bloated nasty corpses at the bottom of the Sunda Trench!) That's where the focus will be.

If the crash was intentional they could lie about who was on it. They could have given it some forethought. If it was accidental, I don't think they would have time to make anything up.
If a plane goes down today, what is the first question people will be asking? Who was on the plane?
I'm not saying you're wrong...you know how Lost goes...everyone is wrong...

CPPAH:
It was accidental, definitely. But, at the very least, Ben wants to keep the island a secret and will do anything he can to ensure that it stays that way. Who knows what the people on the freighter want or what their employers want. But we know it's probably not good. We can pretty safely assume that these people are not about a full disclosure of the 815 crash and the island it landed on.

CPPAH:
It seems like a LOT more time has passed in the real world than has passed on the island since the crash. I don't understand how it works, but I think there was plenty of time to make something up.

CPPAH:
Yeah, I know, but this isn't the real world we're talking about, it's Lost. If it were the real world Kate would never have gotten off for arson, murder, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, blahdiblah, simply because her mom refused to testify, for just one example.
