Boone Carlyle

Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

But I do believe it to be extremely likely that the child is Claire's. It looks to me like the child is about 2 in the FF, not 3 or 4 estimated by most. I am placing a lot of significance on the scene where Kate's mother desparately wants to see her grandson. I believe that indicates that she (and the world) believe the child to be Kate's biological son...

...Given that Kate faced murder charges, I find it implausible that she would have been allowed to keep any child other than her own (or at least what they thought was her own child).
I don't know how old the child is. The way he woke up and said "Mummy" to her made him sound quite young still. Probably no more than 2 or 2 1/2. He was adorable by the way. They must get off the island while he is pretty young still because there is obviously some significant time that goes on between the rescue and the trial. Kate has had time to buy a huge house (with Oceanic money?) and establish a close relationship to her nanny. She has also heard Jack's story of the crash "so many times she believes it."

I agree there is no way that she could keep custody of a child that isn't biologically hers as a wanted felon. They obviously had to pass the kid off as hers. I still don't know how they explain that, but we shall see in the coming months.

If 4 years have passed in the real world, but less than 4 months have passed on the island, do the Losties catch up on their aging as soon as they return from the island? The reason I ask is because Aaron looks much older than he should be. If not much time has gone by b/t the O6's arrival back and Kate's court case (and it probably hasn't), Aaron shouldn't be speaking yet. Or that big. See what I mean? If that's what happened I bet it hurt. Not joking. Especially for Sun whose pregnancy would have been super sped up.

This is a very good point. It simplifies this thread totally negating all the "4 months is 4 years" quotes. I hope this wasn't posted anywhere else (it wasn't on this thread) but in Kate's trial when the DA recommends she stay in prison for the duration of the trial, her lawyer states she was free prior to her arraingment. The point I am trying to make is the big mystery this season is how do all the ff fit in a time line? (i.e. Kate and Jack could have met at the airport before her trial)

I think it's much more likely that Kate's trial was a lot closer to Jack's catching up with Hurley at the Santa Rosa Medical Center than it was to Jack and Kate's meeting at the airport. For one thing Jack is fairly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the first two events, but he is bearded and really screwed up in the third. I don't think he would have had time to lose his mind a bit and then clean himself up all before the trial. And what would have helped him clean himself up, anyway? He hadn't returned to the island, so his problem still beats down heavy on his mind.

That was just an example. that's why there is an (i.e.) in front of it. I agree with the points you made though. I just would love to know the timeline, and how we as viewers are going to figure it out.
