Bernard Nadler
Bernard Nadler is a tail section survivor of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and the husband of Rose. He is the only tail section survivor that has not been killed, captured, or assimilated in to the Others. He wasn't seated in the tail section, and was only there when the plane crashed because he was using the bathroom then. Bernard cares very much for Rose and feels a need to fix things, like her cancer, not dissimilar to Jack.

I was saying that because of the time delay off of the island, it would be totally believable to them that Aaron is Kate's baby, timewise. Especially if there is no Claire around to disagree. Since she's dead, Zed, Claire's dead.

oh, i understand now. sorry pot pies, what i read earlier i thought you were suggesting that kate had the baby biologically. but i get what you are saying now.

Well, if thats true then she's used up 8 of her 9 lives. I guess she's going to actually finally die in 6-months, eh? Or is this only true if she were a cat? I guess that's why they call her whiskers.

So how many days in real time is equivalent to 92 days of island time? Does the rest of the world think they've been gone for four years? Someone on Losttalk recently speculated that 4 months of island time equals 4 years in real life. This is particularly interesting in light of the fact that Kate's mother tells Kate that doctors have been telling her for 4 years that she only has 6 months left to live.
|
I'm coming to think that the opposite is true about the time line. I first thought the island was on some kind of accelerated time but after the missile thing with Daniel last week, it flipped. The way the time delay was set up it looks like maybe 4 months of Island time equals 4 years in the outside world. (Those numbers could easily be way off but I'm just using the examples you already used). Daniel waited for the missile to land on the island, indicating some lag in their perception of time.
Back to my original question. If Kate is passing Aaron off as her own child than how does she explain having enough time for a 9+ month gestation? They have thus far experienced the equivalent of three months on the island while the real world thinks they've been gone only a few weeks.
If your version of time comes to be true than I understand her passing the baby off as her own. But if in fact the opposite is true, I just don't understand.

Good post L*H I think you are right, time moves slowly on the Island compared with the outside world. if i was any good at maths or physics, I'd bw able to work out the difference. If the missile, should have taken 30 secs, but took 31 minutes, then time on the Island moves 1 hour to every outside world minute? does that work? 1 day would equal 24 mins, 1 week equals 168 mins on the Island, so 8,736 mins (145.6 hours) would equal 1 year, no it doesn't work, that would mean a week on the island was just over a year in the outside world, unless I'm at bad as maths as I fear. can anyone help me out on this?

The only person who's aging we are able to observe is baby Aaron who seems to be growing according to island time. If what you say were true he would be accelerating at double the speed that he is. It's hard to tell but if that were the case someone may have mentioned how fast he was developing. Also, Sun's pregnancy occurred about one month into their time on the island and she is far from showing any signs of pregnancy.
I think Lonesomecowboy has it right.
