Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

I'm confused. When were Desmond and Faraday both on the freighter? Was this in the commerical for next week? I only just saw that episode a couple hours ago, so I totally missed the previews. Darn!

1.) Do you mean that Desmond was freaking out at Lapidus? How/why would Desmond freak out at Faraday? Faraday (Daniel, right?) is on the island while the helicopter is somewhere else.
2.) Do you think if the helicopter lands where the freighter should be but in a time before the freighter is there, does that mean they drown?
3.) Woah woah! If 3 is true, Desmond (dead) be one of the "original" Oceanic 8. Sayid could be believed to be dead, which would explain why the Italian golfer is freaked out and terrified when Sayid calls himself one of the Oceanic 6. Cuz he's s'posed to be dead, yo.

Well, if Claire is going to get on a helicopter like Desmond saw, then a helicopter is going to have to return to the island at least one more time.

screencaps of previews show a short haired desmond who has a long haired daniel by the throat and is argueing with him in front of a chalkboard that has calculations on it

OK guys big spoiler for next week (warning, do not read if you don't want to know!!!)

Spoiler for next week we will see...:
Desmond! Next week it's all about our favorite nude beach runner and what happens to him and Sayid in the freighter-copter. (Note: The turbulance toggles his "time travel"-y switch and flashes to a run-in with Daniel Faraday as he is a professor at Oxford...This is the clip we see in the preview in which short-haired Des says to long-haired D.F. "Am I gonna die?" And it should be mentioned that Desmond also could survive off the island and not be counted as one of the Oceanic Six since he wasn't on the manifest.)

I am not going to read the spoilers, no i'm not...

To the sayings that Desmond was flying the helicopter: Wasn't he already flying it when they left the island? He is sitting next to Lapidus and is wearing the headphones. Cause I remember saying "Does Desmond actually know how to fly a helicopter?" when I watched the epi.

lapedis is also wearing headphones.
