8 survivors, but only six of the island?

This part really got at me, more than anything else. When Jack said 8 survivors of THE CRASH that got me thinking who, but then there are only the oceanic six, whom 4 of we know. Any thoughts on this topic

claire's listed as a survivor, hence baby Aaron being born.
But she is not rescued as she died sometime between the crash and the rescue.
Kate is left to raise the baby. Possibly the story will be that she died in childbirth later or died some other way.

Either way, they had to eat claire in order to survive.... just kidding.

yes i think that they did tell the people Claire died in childbirth, and Kate is acting as the adoptive mother. Aaron does have some reallllll blond hair tho so i think it is definitely Claire's Aaron.

Jack's testimony was a total lie. So it really doesn't make any difference.

jack doesn't want to see the baby. so some traumatic experience is accompanied with the fact that kate is caring for this child.

my theory fits well with jack's lie.

Michael could be another referred to as one of the eight survivors of the crash. I have no idea yet how he will play into season 4, but depending, he could be one.

michael and walt could be the other 2.

the oceanic six get rescued by helicopter and the other two survivors are michael and walt who make it off by boat. hence 8
