incredible ending...but we don't know yet the circumstances by which she came about to have aaron. i think it's too early to judge.

But I am sure Kate didn't snatch Aaron from Claire.
Whatever the circumstances were, she probably didn't even want to take him at first.
But now it appears she loves him very much.

maybe claire asked kate to be godmother. she has already been trying to get kate to hold the baby. who knows?
maybe she was pregnant and was testing sawyer and broke up with him because he was so elated to (wrongly) find out she was pregnant. So, she leaves him and has baby and names him aaron. Reason to wonder is that Jack doesn't want to see the baby.... as if it IS Sawyers.
doubt it though. a couple of reasons....
1. that baby's got some real blonde hair.
2. kate was likely arrested on arrival back home.... and no mention of prenancy??

the real question is "Why would Jack not want to see Aaron?" What earthly reason could he have for not wanting to see his "half-nephew"? if he has even found out that claire is his half sister.
** Possibly because Jack did something to get rescued (or something else happened) that caused Claire's death and seeing the baby reminds him that he caused his half-sister's (or just "Claire's") death.

just a few yet early random thoughts.

thats an excellent theory on why jack would not want to see the baby. i think overtime jack becomes overridden with guilt regarding possible deaths on the island cause of the freighters, this is what drives him to his breakdown in season 3 finale

I agree as well. I think that we need to know what actually happened to realize if it was a good thing for her to do.

At the end of the episode of Jack's big breakdown, when he's talking to Kate, he says that they have to go back. With his savior complex that makes me think that they left everyone else there and he wants to go back and rescue them. That would also make sense as to why he wouldn't want to see Claire's baby. If the good Dr. Jack who must save the world left all those people behind he would feel horribly guilty and couldn't handle seeing the living embodiment of that, Aaron.

I'm not sure Kate raising Aaron, is a good idea, Claire was told by Richard Malkin (the psychic) that it would be crucial that she raised the child herself in the epi "Raised by Another". That's why he sent her to the Island, now Kate is raising Aaron, Charlie tried, and look what happened to him.

Lockedown and Driven nailed it. Just what I was thinking. That is Claire's Aaron and Jack's guilt over [i]something[i] is keeping him from seeing the baby. I assume these flashforwards happen very soon after they are rescued, Kate is dealing with her legal issues, Jack has yet to grow a beard and downward spiral... but Aaron is like 2. So what is up with the timeline? They don't get rescued until Aaron is a toddler? Or they get rescued soon and Kate doesn't have to deal with her impending prison sentence right away? Claire is probably alive which is why Kate had such an angry response to Jack wanting to go back to the island. She doesn't want to give up Aaron. She doesn't want to leave Aaron either, she is just peachy with her new life.
