Kate went through quite a change. From when she didn't even want to hold Aaron to being such a caring mother...*ahem*. I don't know, I just thought this mother role doesn't fit her.

I came up with some theories why Kate would have Aaron:
- Claire is dead. (mind-blowing, I know^^)
- Claire and Kate became such good friends Claire gave Aaron to Kate so she could use him for sympathy for not going to jail
- Aaron and Claire died, the child we see in the epi is Kate's and she calls him Aaron in memory of the "real" Aaron
- Claire decided to give up Aaron (which i can't imagine, but who knows)
- Claire was left behind on the island, and committed Aaron to Kate

Still, none of this responds to why Aaron is with KATE. It would be much more logical if he stayed with Claire's aunt or someone else of her family.
