The photo is a real puzzle for me. On the one hand, he's wearing a white vest and rainbow striped shirt that has a real early 80s feel to it. Gallager would be proud. On the other, the computer monitor behind his head could be as recent as mid- to late-90s, since I don't think most people had stand-up flat monitors until the very late 90s. I guess it's possible he only had his Dharma Initiative outdated clothes when we took that trip off island (IF we can even safely assume the photo was taken off-island), but then again, if he had all kinds of currencies and passports, surely he could have found some contemporary clothes too?

I've seen the Dutch wear outfits like that, even now. Remember, he had all those passports, he could have been Dieter form Luxemborg in that picture. I say it's recent, but maybe not too. It may have been the last clean shot of Ben they had before the **** hit the fan on the island and they had to send peeps in to mark him.

I don't know if you can place a time based on the monitor size. If you work for any type of government agency they are about 5-10 years behind in technology anyway. I work for the state of California and we just got rid of some of our giant CRT monitors last year. We still have some of those 17-inch behemoths.

Oh, and did I mention I'm wearing a white vest and stripped shirt right now.
