Nikki Fernandez
Nikki Fernandez was one of the middle section survivors from Flight 815 and is first introduced in "Further Instructions". She had spent most of her time on the island trying to recover the $8 million diamonds she and Paulo had stolen from Zukerman, her staged lover, before the crash. She received a Medusa spider bite that induced a deathlike paralysis and she died after being buried alive alongside Paulo.

Literary connection to "Eggtown"
Those of you who read The Great Gatsby back in high school might remember that the narrator, Nick, lives in a town on the north shore of Long Island ("the Gold Coast") called West Egg. Jay Gatsby and Daisy & Tom Buchannon live in the more affluent neighboring community of East Egg. (FYI: These towns are based on the real life Long Island towns of Manhasset and Great Neck, which Fitzgerald geographically flipped for the novel--Manhasset is actually east of Great Neck.)
The frequency of literary allusions in Lost put me in mind right away of The Great Gatsby and the episode "A Tale of Two Cities" soon as I heard the episode title "Eggtown." In "A Tale of Two Cities"** we see the Losties' beach camp and, for the 1st time, we see the Others' barracks--2 towns with characters in opposition, just like in The Great Gatsby. Maybe this episode will be about similar differences the lifestyle of Others and the Dharma Initiative?
Or maybe it has nothing to do with The Great Gatsby and refers to pregnancy? Some secret lab in the real world where stolen fertilized eggs are stored to repopulate the Island since the Other mothers can't survive pregnancy?
About "The Economist": I was only JUST posting a couple days ago that I wanted Sayid to step it up and be a more important character this season! Yay! My wishes were heard. The Economist" was so good, I can hardly wait for the next episode!

you are good, potpie, reeeal good! for some reason, unbeknownst to even myself, i have believed that the losties (oceanic 6) are going to still end up on an island, but it will turn out to be the island of manhattan, but maybe instead it will be long island . i also like your idea of "reproductive city" a.k.a. "eggtown."
