Here is the wierd thing though, and a chat the other night bought forth my suspicions. Sayid, it seemed, didn't complete the job, since after killing Elsa, he went to Ben to clean his wound, where ben told him.. I have another name for you - Ben skipped right over 'the Economist'. Perhaps Elsa was the target after all, and the Economist was actually.... Ben. This may have been Sayid's first mission and Ben was testing him to see if Sayid would kill for him, esp. after building a relationship with the target. A target that looked like his one lost love, Shannon.

I say Sayid's first mission because... and thanks to Queenbee for this, the first killing we see Sayid do on the golf course actually took place after the Elsa job. Think about it, the guy looked freaked out that it was Sayid of the Oceanic 6... Sayid said 'they' know he is coming... Brialliant Queen!

Wasnt Elsa the woman with Dan in his first scene, where he is watching the crash on the news and feeling sad??

Thanks CableRunner, but I like where you've taken this! I think it is totally plausible that Ben is on both sides of this episode... remember when Ben and Jack were talking (when Jack was in the hydra station and ben had a tumor) and Ben says to Jack [paraphrasing, here] "Don't you find it interesting that Juliet looks an awful lot like your ex-wife" and then the whole conversation about how they had such a great plan to break Jack. Well, maybe it is part of the breaking of Sayid to have someone look like someone he loved.

i understand what you are saying, but the thing is...does sayid look happy to be working for ben? to me it looks like he is in a forced situation and he doesn't like it.

No, i've looked back at the scene and you cant see her face, it just sounds like her voice. But I was chatting to a member of the second Life lost group, and they thought that too. But maybe we are trying to find too many coincidences now.
