Question Swingset Daycare Remark

I was perticulary intrested about what Miles said when they entered the village grounds.
"What's with the swingset? these people had daycare?"

This is obviously hinting that Miles knows more about the Island in some way? He probably knows about the whole birth thing? He thought out loud, which is intresting..
The reason i think it has relevance to it, is the way they lined it out. They do continues shots of the village, end with the swingset (which is making noise through the wind), viewed from Miles his eyes. Then they close up on Miles when he makes that remark.

Just cant get my head around the relevance of what hes saying.

I thought it was to show that he was just surprised to see how normal-suburban-neighborhood-like it was. Like they had pictured them as 'natives' living in huts (like we all thought before we saw the book club scene.)

The interesting thing to me was how much farther the swings that Ben and Annie swung on were flying then the other ones.

i took it as a comic relief remark...just as a funny line to break the tension. but there could have been more to it...

I thought the swingset remark was interesting, too. I was also fascinated by the laundry still hanging on the clotheslines. They had to leave for the temple sooo quickly they couldn't bring in laundry or even pack extra clothes. And why didn't the others have dryers? The Swan Hatch even had a dryer.

Don't you ever long for that fresh off the clothesline smell? anyway, I don't know if I'm stating the obvious but the swing sets have been there ever since Dharma was on the island, so they would be there for Dharma kids (i.e. Ben and Annie) I wonder how long the fertility problem has been going on?

Yeah! And I couldn't figure Others' departure to temple before reading your post so I was even more baffled about the laundry

I am on the fence on this one. On the one hand it is a deadpan remark meant to be humorous since Miles is such a jackass. On the other hand, how much does he know about the island and the kids and the infertility thing. I felt the same way in Episode 2 when Charlotte says to Claire, ' you had the baby on the island? that's amazing!' because it is amazing that anyone could have a baby on a remote island after a plane crash, but it's even more amazing when all the women on the island die before childbirth. So, which amazing is it Charlotte? ANSWER ME!!?!!? hehe...

also, we don't know what the freighters have been told about the people on the island, they could have been told lies by the people they are working for

It's totally unexpected to find a suburban habitat in the middle of the jungle (he thinks they are on a deserted island after all). Don't forget there were children there when the DHARMA folks were the ones in charge. As far as we know, the freighter people don't know anything about who lived on the island after the DHARMA folks were there. They were the last official settlers on the island and the only ones the outside world would have any official connection to.
