Paulo
Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

Funny Money!
I thought it interesting that we get a good look at the money Sayid sees in the drawer, so I looked into it and, LO!, the picture on the pound is of Daniel Faraday! And apparently they are no longer in circulation (all of our wonderful British subscribers will be better athorities on this, I hope), but were in circulation between 1991 and 2001.

Great to know Helps to make better sense of Ben's departures from the island timing-wise, and it's also a cool reference to the subject of EM-light connection Dan mentioned an episode earlier.

How on Earth did you spot that it was Daniel Faraday on the money when a good part of his face was obscured??!! You are a clever girl. I am impressed.

I think what she means is that there was an acutal English physicist named Faraday who was on a certain pound note (the 50, the 100, for example) in the 90s. He is no longer featured on those bills, but they are still in UK circulation and those are the ones used in the Lost close up. Was that right, Queenbee?
