Hugo "Hurley" Reyes
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Hurley's father disappeared when he was at a young age for almost 17 years. Afterwards, Hurley suffered an eating-disorder and after a traumatic accident he was sent to a mental asylum when he started seeing an imaginary person. Ever since, he has changed and has been extremely concious of his sanity and how people view him. When Hurley won the lottery, he was not overjoyed, instead he was fearful that his life was going to change. Hurley is typically happy-go-lucky and keeps the spirits of his fellow survivors up. He has an eating disorder but has managed to overcome that with the help of Libby, and has even stuck to it after her death. He is also the voice of reason in the group, and uses his common sense to solve difficult situations. Ever since winning the lottery with the mysterious numbers, he has searched for an answer for the curse of bad luck that supposedly plagues him.

Okay - they gave us such a clear shot of Michael's passport. Weird, right? Well it turns out that there is something even more strange... Michael and Ben's fake passports both have the same ID number: HNSO12153. HNSO would seem to me to indicate HANSO. Now what really has my mind racing is how many times we've seen Hanso this season (the logo was on one of Harper Stanhope's certficates).

from the forward to "Big Sur" by Kerouac
Quote:

"Enter Neal Cassady, the legendary driver, Ginsbergs fabled "cocksman and Adonis of Denver," who blew into New York with his girlfriend Luanne and a fired-up determination to learn all about writing from Allen [Ginsberg], Jack, and Bill [burroughs], in return for for which he'd tell them all about his life in the West, and the Beat Generation was ready to roll."

I can't figure out what connection that Ben would have with Cassady, except they are pretty much polar opposites. Cassady worked on the railroad, and was constantly juggling women. He led a relatively simple and playful existence, and did some time for weed, as you read in "Big Sur". Kerouac's name in the book, "Sal Paradise" could also be read as 'its all paradise", which I rather like. interesting find.

Right, that is a funny point about them being polar opposites. I've read that somewhere else on this site about "Paradise," too, maybe in the Lost book section.

I still think it is extremely interesting that HNSO, (see the upper right corner of both passport pictures above) of all the letters and combinations in the English alphabet, shows up on Ben and Michael's passports. Is it just an easter egg for us to laugh at or should we think that Hanso Foundation, which started the Dharma Initiative - which was purged by Ben, now has a some kind of top secret, double-agent spy kind of relationship with Ben?

That is curious. It could be that Ben has doctored older passports that he found on the island, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hanso didn't have some kind of relationship with Ben, after all they had invested in the island it would seem they would accept even a lukewarm frienship over an openly hostile one, perhaps Ben gave them handouts from time-to-time, like future presidential election results and things of that nature, assuming he is experimenting with time travel. a thought: Just because the US revolted against British rule in the 1700's doesn't mean the US president can't get into a decent hotel in London.
