Paulo

Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

Default Why did the Freighters eject from helicopter?

If the pilot was so confident in landing the helicopter and did such a good job, why did he force his companions to eject in such dangerous conditions? Could this have been on purpose to gain insight into different groups and appear vulnerable?

I would love some other insight into this topic!

the way it looked, the helicopter did really go through serious technical difficulty, most likely due to the weather conditions. Maybe lightening, but the Island's EM field might be partially responsible as well. still, it didn't obstruct the use of the phones so far. it looked like a real case of emergency-landing to me.

that's a good point. originally they all said that it was like an "electrical storm" and all the instruments went screwy. We know that miles pushed Daniel out. but they could have made it appear like they were in distress just so that they could spread out and increase their chances of finding ben. then again, it's kind of a dangerous way to do it...

also, frank is a professional pilot, so he may have just put that to good use and landed the chopper properly despite the difficulties.

The reason Dan was pushed by Miles seemed to me that Dan is not a character that would turn into a fighter or quick thinker under tough or combat-like conditions. The helicopter was about the crash, panic invaded the minds of the crew, there wasn't much time to prepare and jump in orderly manner so Dan was somewhat forced to bail out first. I also remember some panic talk before Dan's jump, like one of them looking for a parachute pack or something.. Obviously the storm and/ or the EM field affected things in the least expected way for the helicopter crew.
