There is no evidence that the polar bear is ancient. On the contrary, when the woman who was with bullet-proof-vest-girl (forgot her name) said something about it being a dinosaur, she replied by saying something to the effect of "your off by a couple million years."

I also think that the 4 new characters were hired by Hanso to capture Ben for killing the members of Dharma.

If the show became fictiony for you at that point then wow...I mean the show how we've seen it so far for almost 4 seasons isn't all sci-fi timewarp MULTIPLE TIME LIMES FUTURE FTWFTWFTWFTW stuff. It is mainly trying to be realistic. Although there is a monster. There is a monster in Cloverfield also...It is extremely realistic. More so then 27 dresses.

Does anyone know where Sawyer shot the bear? Because in the skeleton there may be a hole in the jaw.

I think DHARMA used the island's "power" to send the bear else-where i.e. the far-side the the planet. This may be how Ben brought Locke's father to the island. It is all about the island's power and who controls it. Eventually, we will find out what the power is and what it is not.

The collar on the Polar bear is so they could find it and figure out where they sent it. I assume they snatched it from the ice cap (just like locke's father). Looks like some polar bears still get teleported to the island or a few got away.

on a separate note: Jack's father is (might be) alive in the future but Anna Lucia is definitly dead.

The guy visiting Hurley in the Institution is the same guy who hires the crew to go get Ben on the island. He said no-one from the Oceananic 815 lived. He is either 1. wrong 2. a lousy hinter (i.e. kill them) or 3. they are all dead? Seems like we have been told they are alive in the space time continum. I think the guy is from DHARMA and they want to get the island (and its power) back and kick Ben's ---

Exactly! Thanks for posting that! I thought Charlotte's response to the dinosaur comment was extremely interesting! Was the bear just desiccated because of the desert conditions? Desire had a good point about the bullet hole in the polar bear's skull --> where was it that Sawyer shot his polar bear? The bear was running head on into Sawyer?

DHARMA must have stations all over the world where they can conduct small experiments in remote locations. Charlotte seemed really pleased to find the collar, I don't know if she was expecting to find it (because of who she works for) or if she just stumbles on DHARMA evidence all the time in her work (and innocently tries to make connections).

When you see tiny details of anyone's life out of context they will really throw you. Add weird smoke monsters and Polar bears and the conspiracy/time loop theories set the internet on fire. I think in the end the big twist will be pretty obvious and more basic than we all imagine now. There isn't an alien invasion or anything too insane to worry about but I do expect some type of sci-fi twist.

I thought it was the Hydra logo on the polar bears collar. It looks like a weird tree. What does the orchid logo look like? The only picture I could find of it shows a wave. Also did the polar bear that Sawyer shot have a collar on it? I don't remember it having one. I don't think it is the same bear.
