The Chalkboard

This episode was replayed last night in my area (don't know if this is true everywhere). With the normal episode it had captions designed to enlighten and perhaps help Lost viewers that are Lost themselves catch up or catch on. When Matthew Abbadon is talking to Hurley at the Santa Rosa Mental Hospital the captions read something to the effect that Abbadon was not a lawyer and was not with Oceanic and something about his name being biblical and it's meaning (this has all been discussed elsewhere). Then it said that the drawings that were shown very quickly on the chalkboard behind Hurley were a clue as to Abbadon's true role in all this. Who knows what was on the Chalkboard?

I saw that as well last night.. I think it was because he is trying to find the island and that is what he pictures on the back meant.. We know he is assocated with the freigher people since Confirmed Dead when he was talking with Naomi about who her team was going to be.. I think that they were just making sure we understood that he isn't a lawyer for Oceanic, doesn't even work for Oceanic, and was meeting for very other reasons than upgrading Hurley's room or whatever he said.. It looks to me like even when they do get off the island someone is still trying to find it. My question is who is he wondering about still being alive????

Yes that was the big point of that scene, the "Are they still alive?" question. Is he is talking about the rest of the Oceanic survivors, the Others and or the Freighter people?

Obviously the Oceanic 6 is hiding something and a ruse of some sort, the details of which we will find out this season I think. I was thinking that the O6 is hiding the fact that so many stayed on the island and are alive. Abbadon is digging at this possibility?

I think the image on the board just confirms what is given by the name. In Rev 9:11 Abaddon is the name of the Locust King. He and his minions are loosed from hell in order to torment mankind. If you examine the board it becomes increasingly clear that this "destroyer" is in pursuit of our island and those who come and go from it. He is quite simply an antagonist.

I thought it was a shark and an island drawn on the chalkboard, and I thought the enhancement told us that the chalkboard was meant as a clue to what Abbadon was looking for or wanted.

The caption said that Abbadon meant gaurd of the abyss or keeper of the abyss(something along those lines) so I wonder where that will come into play as to what his ultimate motives are. It has to have relavence considering they had that in a pop up.

Now, that we've all seen the rest of the episodes from Season 4, if not, *spoiler alert*:

The fingerpainting on the chalkboard behind Abaddon when he first appears in the episode looks to me like it's a representation of the freighter. There are 7 circles on what appears to be the front deck (where the helicopter usually lands). I'm guessing they represent 7 of the Losties. I also noticed a lot of circles crossed out and only three circles remaining on the hull side of the boat. These should be the Freighters, and it may illustrate that only three of them survive.

What are others' thoughts on this?
