Does anyone else think that Hurley is becoming a more important character on the show? Like he has a more important role on the island. Jacob's shack appears to him, he sees Jacob or Christian or someone in there, he is one of the few that gets off the island, Charlie says "they need you" to him... I think that we are going to see our lovable Hurley becoming more of a leader type and find out he has some special role or connection to the island or something.

I think he just saw Locke. But I do like the way he has grown into a more complex character. And conning Sawyer in two different episodes (ping pong and the barbeque) were an interesting insight into how Hurley could work "behind the scenes."

I think Hurley represents the "caring heart" of the island.

He saw Jacob. It was an empty chair then Jacob apeared right before John scared the crap out of him. I think Hurley has always been important. His story line plays on that all the time. He wants to help and gets shot down all the time. He's always being viiewed by people as being to slow to keep up, to soft to be of help in any rescue. but when it comes right down to it. here comes Hurley, plowing down the bad guys in a V.W. bus. The island gives you the chance to be what you never were before. Hurley will be big this season I.M.H.O.

I just wonder why he ended up leaving the island? He seemed so vehement in this episode about not doing that for Charlie's sake.

I don't think it was that he didn't want to leave the island, he just wanted to stay away from the people coming to the island, because Charlie said they weren't who they said they were. He knows Charlie died so they could get rescued, so maybe when the chance came for him to be rescued, that was why he took it...?

Who said that was Jacob? I was 100% that was the Cerberus in the chair. Also I think it 50% may of been Jacobs Eye that popped up. But who knows?

I realized that too. Hurley isn't the old funny himself anymore, but much more serious. Have to get just used to this.
