Hello? He's the hero, after all! Even in the future, when he's just about to kill himself, he still saves that woman and her son out of the car!

I don't think I'll ever be able to hate him, whatever he does!

i don't remember him checking naomi. but mind you i was trying to watch the show and a five month old baby at the same time...

I do not remember Jack ever checking Naomi. If he did, you would think he would have figured out whether or not she was dead. If he thought she was dead and she crawled off, he would have been more freaked out. If he knew she was alive, you would think he would have tried to help her rather than leave her laying there in a bloody heap.

Jack has been consistently moving towards a more aggressive, violent nature. Maybe he has felt it was necessary to survive. But, he cut Ben's kidney sack on the table and would have let him die if necessary. I am pretty certain he had every intention of killing Tom, and Ben after the rescue as retribution for what he thought happened to Bernard, Jin and Sayid. He also fully intended to kill Locke in that moment, because Locke had undermined him at every turn in trying to leave the island. I think Jack had spent his pre-island life suppressing his anger and frustration. Now in this situation many of his actions and strength are fueled by pure rage. Could be helpful, could be his undoing.

That woman and her son would have never been in that car wreck if they hadn't seen Jack about to jump off the bridge.

Yeah... he CAUSED the crash!

Also, remember what he told Kate at the end of his flash forward. He keeps getting on airplanes hoping they will crash again, he doesn't care about what happens to anyone else on board. He has become so obsessed with things that he isn't able to be rational.

Jack didn't mean for the woman and her kid to crash though so you can't hold that against him. I'm sure if he had a psychic thats so raven vision of what was going to happen he wouldn't have been up there on the bridge. And along those same lines, if given the choice I'm sure he'd prefer to fly and crash alone and not take all those other passengers with him. That statement to Kate was just showing how horribly desperate he is to get back to the island. I can't stand the way his character has become so one track minded. He won't listen to anyone else, he is being a terrible leader. But he isn't evil and he isn't a killer IMO. Locke (in Jack's eyes) had just murdered an innocent woman and shot at him. Jack must've decided it was justifiable. Locke looked so emotionally hurt when Jack pulled the trigger.

Jack is a stereotypical doctor. a self-important know-it-all jerk.

Locke shot at the phone, not Jack.

Jack is an attempted murderer at the least.

If someone shoots in my general direction I am going to assume they don't care about my safety very much, so Locke pointing a gun and shooting near Jack is grounds for Jack to declare him dangerous. Plus the knifing naomi in the back thing.
