Paulo

Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

Default What is this Lie Everyone is Keeping?
At the end of season 3 during the flash forward, Jack tells Kate that he can't keep their lie anymore. During tonight's episode it is mentioned again (but I don't want to give anything away to those who haven't seen the episode yet). What are the theories on what this lie is?

the lie is that they are the only survivors. the six. they left people behind. that's why they are tortured about it. and why they feel compelled to go back. and also why that guy who visited hurley at the institution asked him if they were "still alive"

I was thinking that maybe there is a group of people out there looking to exploit the island and use all it has to offer. They were looking for it and that is who shows up to rescue them. Jack and the other 5 who make it off the island tell everyone that they were the only survivors to keep those who stayed behind safe. The creepy guy visiting Hurley may represent those who are still looking for the island.

that's good, L*H, i agree. now the only thing we have to work out is the part where charlie (dead charlie) told hurley "they need you" why would they need hurley to go back?

It seems that Hurley is another of those very few people that can see Jacob. Maybe he's special in some way and their survival is some how linked to him.
