I think the secret is Jacko abandoned folks under some life threatening dilemna
BUT only after the rescuers showed up and killed some of the Losties

Guilt is driving some of Jacks descent into abuse

Maybe they can't talk about Dharma or the Others or the location of the island. They deifnitely can't talk about all the killing that went on. But I think there is something bigger still.

The way Hurley tells the cop that he didn't meet AnnaLucia makes it pretty clear that they are keeping all the deaths a secret. I think something pretty huge and horrible will still happen between when the rescuers show up and when they all get to L.A.

I had no idea that AnaLucia would even be mentioned in the Season 4 premiere! (You just rocked my world!) I went to my friend's concert tonight and it started late and ran long. I snuck out the back, raced as fast as my little legs would carry me, and made it back in front of my TV by 9:25. I rilly rilly rilly hope they have it at ABC.com tomorrow!

Do you think the "upgrade" the black guy was talking about was a way back into the DAHRMA world? I got the feeling the guy was offering a way back on the island.

also why did Jack insist on staying when Charlie's dying message was to stay away? that guy's WAY to stubborn if you ask me.

Because he's an idiot. I don't necessarily think Locke's all there - but I'm with Hurley and Claire and Desmond. Charlie died to tell them the rescuers are up to no good.

And then Hurley apologizes to Jack for not staying with him, for going with Locke. Why? Simply because it may have hurt Jack's feelings? Or for other reasons that we haven't seen yet. I don't think the creepy guy could've been offering him a way back to the island since he obviously can't get there and is looking for info from Hurley. I think he was just trying to lure him away from the nut house so they could question the heck out of him etc. What else...Charlie! "I am dead. But I'm also here" HUH? I think Jack and Kate and Hurley (and the other three who I am guessing are Sawyer, Claire and Aaron) are lying about everything that happened. I think they've told the world that the flight went down, everyone but them died in the crash and that is all. How is it that Kate is not a fugitive anymore?

I think the world knows they were rescued from some island, but that's all they know. Jack tells Hurley that he still gets asked for his autograph when he goes to pick up his dry cleaning, or something like that. The world knows they exist and that they were rescued. The weird thing is why would it be OK with the Others (and whoever else is secretly running the show) for the world to know the Losties survived? You'd think they'd want everything connected with the island kept totally secret, right?

The lie that they're being forced to tell is helping to keep the island a secret and with all that went down between crash and rescue, but I don't know what or how.

I didn't mean that jack and kate INFORMED the world that the flight went down... I meant that their WHOLE story is "the flight crashed, everyone died but us, the end" I know that the world knows the flight crashed and they are celebs etc.

If I was a moderator I'd move to "The Beginning of The End"
