It would be disappointing to have an end summed up by alien technology, abandoned by the creators, or outliving the creators, and found by countless civilizations here on earth... well, actually, that's not bad, but I think it's been done before. But to say the island is a human creation, 'lost' with it's crew from it's own timeline, searching now, in the islands past for it's human creator, not born yet, is something to consider.

Consider Alpert, checking into Locke's past, seeing his birth, his adolescence and teen years, producing random items and asking a young Locke which one of the trinkets is his. This action could be taken in many ways, but we know these things don't belong to Locke, so who? If Locke, or whoever owns the items originally, should know them as a boy, then what is the show trying to say? I doubt I would have known as a boy that I'd own the car I have (and love) now... so is the show saying the true owner would be reborn, or transferred (like the Dalai Lama) to a new person? This seems spiritual, or supernatural where the show seems based on science fiction. I guess you can have both, but I can't see it.

Maybe the island is like the ring from Lord of the Rings, where the island, jacob, is partly human, a spirit, a ghost in the machine, and it needs it's actual human form to realize it's potential. Dharma didn't understand, and ben may only partly understand, which is why he keeps trying to bring pregnancy to the island, when Richard knows it doesn't matter, the reall Jacob will eventually appear.

Maybe the real Jacob communed with the dead, so Richard believed ben was the one, only to find out later he was wrong. Ben has Richard believe Locke is it, cured of a handicap when he's finally, truly home. But it seems Locke is out of favor now too, off the island, and now dead. Perhaps the real 'chosen one' was born on island, right under their noses, and now Aaron is gone, and ben and Locke must get him back (with crew?) for things to be right again. If this is the case, then their are also forces working against the island, keeping spirit and body apart.

I may be crazy, but there has to be something to the Lost logo with the reflection, of something, below the losties and jungle. Some think it's a city, and it very well could be, a city that warps like the boats in the Philly experiment, popping up in areas of Vile vortices, grabbing pirate ships, smaller islands and mountains as it emerges, only to vanish when it's long covered and cajoled instruments are used.
