I think it has a lot to do with the way Sayid got onto the island. I don't think anyone who crashed in 815 will have to deal with the repercussions that Desmond faced on the helicopter. It could be because of any of the theories floating out there, time lines, course correction, death, etc. It doesn't really matter why, we won't really know until the series is over but somehow I think they will be safe to and from the island.
