She said that she was still in the hospital at that point.
Did it seem to any of you like maybe Kate could hear what Claire's mother was saying to Jack? Her facial expression seemed to show shock but that could just be her face. I don't know. Such a good scene. And when Jack first hears Claire's name his face shows so much struggle and pain. It was classic. Too bad they won't revisit that time line next episode. We probably won't know the outcome of how he reacts or what he and Kate say to each other until next season.
