Remember the Seinfeld episode where Elaine sees the Jesus fish on Peddy's car and then discovers all his pre-set radio stations are Christian rock stations? Then she breaks up with him because he keeps telling her that she's going to hell? Classic.
I think the fish symbol in Christianity has something to do with "loaves and fishes," and that the fish is a symbol of bodily nourishment while Christianity provides spiritual nourishment. (???) Maybe, I don't know. I also feel like it means sacrifice, though I can't remember why.
I keep thinking that the whole Dharma taking over from the Hostiles is somehow symbolic of organized religion taking over from paganism/animism, even if the organized religion is pseudo-Buddhism (or Buddhistized Christianity) rather than Christianity. The connection keeps bugging me.
