Also it gets the sabateur away from the engines, so perhaps the boat will get to safer waters and there will be fewer unexplained deaths. I like how they picked the guy that sabatoged the boat to head the engine repair job
Do you think that was a coincidence? Or were they like, "well, he busted it, he can fix it." And maybe Sayid recognized Micheal's handiwork when repairing the radio. Like he was all: Wow, this was done by a hack. I already fixed it.

I agree. the last time Micheal was working for Ben it had disasterous effects on the Losties. You don't go to the same seafood restaurant that made you sick twice.
