If you watch the scene again you can see it in Michael's face.

When he shoots Ana Lucia he is cold and focused. He is sorry for what he is about to do but he has made up his mind to do it.

Then Libby comes in and his facial expression changes. He is of course shocked and surprised, but also horrified at what he just did.

Anyways thats my two cents.
So are you saying is that the factor “guilt” or “emotional discomfort”. Is a requirement for losties to see people they have killed?

That would not explain why Kate sees her stepfather in the form of a horse and in fevering Sawyer. She killed her stepfather with the same determination as Micheal killed Anna Lucia.

Im still on the theorie that Libby, after dead, is judged a “good guy” and is therefore able to appear on and of the island. And Anna Lucia is not a “good guy”
