During the Hunting Party's encounter with the Others, the bearded man asks someone offscreen named ALEX to bring Kate to him. Alex is, of course, the name of Danielle's daughter - who has been missing since she was two weeks old when the OTHERS took her from Danielle. I get about 10 emails a day from people who are adamant that Alex is Danielle's son and not daughter. Danielle only mentions the gender of her child once, it is in Exodus Part 1 from Season 1: "That night they came - they came and took her - Alex. They took my baby."
