He may not even be aware of the side effects that killed Minkowski. He seems to be an expert at coming to and from the island. I think Ben was acting like a spoiled brat, a slightly psycho spoiled brat. Like he always has a plan and he is always getting his way and manipulating everyone into doing what he wants but he can't make Juliet love him and for the first time is not getting his way so he is majorly pouting. I love how he ends the conversation with 'take all the time you need' so politely.
