i was thinking that in season 4 there will be no flash back but flash fowards. The flash fowads will be of what will happen to the suvives if they get off the island. But the losties will never get off the island untill the end of the show becuase that is what the show is all about.

Is it though? I just watched the clip overview thing they had on before the finale on the web, and the producers said the same thing, but really sarcastically. Since they are trying to get to the root of the "mythology," the story may not need to continue on the island.

I'm not so sure we are done with the island, since we didn't see the 'rescue'. Locke was told by Walt that he had a lot of work to do, since Walt is now off island, a psychic himself, and knows the end, i doubt all locke had to do was stop Jack right then. We will be back on the island I'm sure, and we may not see future flashes again for a while, because we are just assuming Jack is acting the way he does because the Losties got off right away.
I think Jack has many a tough decisions left on the island, and because he didn't make the tough ones well enough, we saw how it ended. Jack may not have wanted more blood on his hands, and the people that are coming are probably far worse than the others and Ben. Hopefully Jack does not follow the ghost of lost future...

I'm sure we'll still have island scenes, but what I mean to say is will the island scenes still be the focus of the show? Or will the "flashbacks/ flash fowards" now be the focus? It sure makes you wonder.

I think this a really good point to discuss. Firstly I think the flash forwards is NOT similar to one of Desmond's visions in that it can be changed, I think it is set in stone as much as the flashBACKs are. Several things could happen next. They could continue the story essentially from the flash forwards point (2007 ish) about the survivors reuniting and going back to the island. They could carry on being on the island for some time before the rescue happens, watching The Others fight with DHARMA/Hanso/Wydmore for control of the island, before being rescued. Personally I doubt they will continue to have a flash forward every episode, I think this was just a taste of what's to come.

I hope we see the temple, Isabel, more of the island's old Dharma sites, and polar bears.

What we're most likely going to discover in season 4 is that Kate's real father, Steve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Austin_%28fictional_character, is plotting to take over the island with the help of the Sasquatch. Sadly, the plan is foiled when the actor playing Sasquatch gets a DWI while filming, and Michael stumbles out of the jungle and shoots him several times in the chest.

I am leaning towards the scenario that when we start back next February we will be seeing our post island losties. They will be carrying on post island lives filled with island flashbacks. (which I believe is exactly what the finale was) We will have all the holes filled in from the island in flashbacks. Then the final season will be the losties getting back to island where they belong.

I was thinking about the significance of the name of the episode, Through the Looking Glass. I didn't read the book, but the idea, as far as I can tell, is that she walks through the mirror and sees everything from a new perspective, backwards essentially. This really supports the idea of flash-fowards. Or at least a new point of reference for the story. It's no longer going to be about who these characters were, but who they will become.

LOL! Sadly, Sabathius, you are mistaken - It wasn't the DWI that prevented Sasquatch from being in the show - Sasquatch had already signed to start filming a movie in Canada, so they hired his cousin The Yeti to be in season 4 - plus, they figured The Yeti would work well with the polar bears.
